Hire workers from India & Asia in Poland
Poland issues more work permits to non-EU nationals than any other EU country. Since 1 June 2025 the labour-market test is gone and applications are filed electronically on praca.gov.pl; the employer obtains a type-A work permit from the voivode, then the worker applies for a national (D) visa. Plan for 10–16 weeks, longer in busy voivodeships.

Permit routes in Poland
Work permit (type A) issued by the voivode, applied for electronically; labour-market test abolished in June 2025.
| Route | Who it's for | Typical time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Work permit type A | Non-EU workers employed by a Polish company | Statutory 30 days, in practice 1–3 months depending on the voivodeship | Applied for by the employer electronically. Fee PLN 400 for permits longer than 3 months. An employment contract must be uploaded before work starts. |
| National visa (D) for work | Every worker after the permit is issued | 2–6 weeks at the consulate; appointment availability in India varies | Consular slots are the most common bottleneck; we book early. |
| Seasonal work permit | Agriculture, horticulture, tourism, up to 9 months | Usually faster than type A | Fee PLN 100. |
| Employer declaration (oświadczenie) | Citizens of Armenia, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine only | Days | Not available for Asian nationals. |
How hiring in Poland works
- Order and documents. The employer needs a signed order and a draft employment contract — since 2025 the contract must be uploaded before the worker starts, and permits are tied to an employment contract rather than civil-law contracts for most roles.
- Sourcing (2–6 weeks). In-person interviews and trade tests in the source country; shortlist with videos.
- Work permit application. Filed by the employer, exclusively online via praca.gov.pl, with the voivode of the region where the company is based. There is no longer a 'starosta information' labour-market test. Statutory decision time is 30 days; in practice 4–12 weeks depending on the office.
- Visa. The worker books a consular appointment for a national (D) visa. In India appointment availability can add weeks, so we start scheduling as soon as the permit is filed.
- Arrival. Registration, PESEL number, bank account, and any local certification (forklift, safety). Employers must notify the office if the worker does not start within 2 months.
Compliance matters more since 2025. Fines for illegal employment can reach PLN 50,000, and employers must report changes promptly. ManBe files everything through the electronic system and keeps the audit trail.
